Newport-on-Tay - Accommodation - Self Catering
Newport-on-Tay is a pleasant community of some 4,000 people on
the south bank of the River Tay opposite Dundee, to which it
is joined by road and rail bridges. Twenty minutes by road from
St. Andrews, it makes an ideal base from which to explore Fife
and Tayside. The village shops include two small supermarkets.
There is an indoor sports centre ten minutes walk from the house
where badminton, squash, 5 a-side football, sun beds, aerobics,
fitness room are all available. Newport has two public houses
within a 5 minute walk from the house. Kinbrae Park is one of
several parks in Newport and is a one minute walk from the house.
It is a large grassy area with a play park and football goals.
Clay tennis courts are situated in the village. A Chinese Takeaway
and Fish and Chip Shop are in the main high street. Horse Riding,
Woodland Walks and Golf are a few of the activities that the
neighbouring village of Tayport offers. The golf driving range
at Drumoig is only five minutes away in the car.
If you are looking for a local place to eat then The Tay Bridge
Halt in Wormit is just a five minute drive from the house. The
food is very popular with the locals and the service always comes
with a smile.
